Filets de femmes: circular economy & inclusion

05 may 2025

Supported by the D'Antilles et D'Ailleurs association, through its Made in Women sewing workshop in Fort-de-France, this project aims to recycle abandoned fishing nets while offering women in vulnerable situations professional training in sewing and eco-design.

The program is based on a partnership with the L'Asso-Mer association, which liaises with local fishermen to recover the nets. The nets are collected by hand, then cleaned, sorted and processed.

To date, 14 women have taken part in this training and integration program. They are actively involved in the creation of bags, clutches, costumes and accessories, in collaboration with professional stylists and seamstresses. Each object is designed using the specific properties of the recovered nets, guaranteeing a unique artisanal production with high social and environmental added value.
