Observer's portrait #2

23 july 2021

Born on an island, Emilie's family history is strongly linked to the sea. Her parents and her island environment quickly made her aware of the pressures on the ocean. "From a very young age, I was taught the values of protection and respect for this powerful but fragile marine ecosystem.

In 2020, Emilie is very interested in the different citizen science programs related to the ocean. "Participating in a research program has been a driving force for me. I think it's great to be able to participate as a citizen in improving practices for the marine environment. For Emilie, her motivations for participating in the Fish & Click project are multiple. She enjoys participating in the search for lost fishing gear and reporting via the app and also wishes to contribute to the improvement of fishing practices. For Emilie, citizen science programs are also a good tool for raising awareness. "I like the possibility to make my friends and family aware of the program and participate so that they can become aware of it and even become actors.
