Initiated by the Commission Environnement et Biologie Subaquatiques (CNEBS), a partnership agreement has been co-signed between the FFESSM and IFREMER within the framework of the Fish & Click program. This cooperation is linked to the federal tool CROMIS (Underwater observation logbook) created by the FFESSM and the CNEBS. This electronic dive logbook allows divers and other underwater sports enthusiasts to identify, inventory and share the marine fauna and flora observed with other users and the scientific community.
Within the framework of joint action between the FFESSM and Ifremer, the categories relating to fishing gear from the Fish & Click program have been integrated into CROMIS. In this way, during a dive or an underwater hike, CROMIS users have the possibility to inform the presence of lost or abandoned fishing gear on the dive site and to transmit the associated photographs if possible.
All the data relating to fishing gear observed via the CROMIS tool will then be exported and sent in the defined format to enrich the Fish & Click program database and thus complete the distribution map of fishing gear lost at sea.
